The Orthokin therapeutic system is a unique way for treating joint pain as well as tendon, ligament and muscle injuries, without adding drugs or other foreign substances. This treatment method is entirely biological and does not use anything other than your own endogenous proteins and healing factors.
At the beginning of the Orthokin therapy process, the patient’s blood is drawn and processed under special conditions. Thus processed serum, enriched with inflammatory blockers and healing factors, is periodically returned by injections to the patient’s pain-affected area.
The Orthokin therapy has been in use since 1997 and is currently used for the treatment of patients by more than 500 licensed surgeons – orthopedists, physiatrists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists and sports physicians in the world, with a high success rate. To date, more than 500.000 patients have been treated with Orthokin.
Orthokin therapy is recommended for the treatment of joint pain in osteoarthritis (grade I-III), back pain, as well as for tendon, ligament and muscle injuries, in combination with or without surgical treatment. Orthokin therapy can simultaneously treat several areas of the patient’s body.
Orthokin therapy is based on specific substances which originate in the patient’s body. That is why it is very well accepted and anti-inflammatory and regenerative results are long-lasting.
Orthokin therapy works by inhibiting inflammation that causes osteoarthritis, irritation of nerve roots, and injuries to tendon, ligament and muscle tissues. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory effect, pain is reduced, and mobility and elasticity of the affected area are improved.
Each case is individual. It is impossible to predict how long after application of the Orthokin therapy the positive results of improvement in a particular patient will last. The lower the degree of damage to the cartilage or other tissue at the time the treatment begins, the longer the positive results of improvement will last.
This treatment is not recommended if you suffer from an acute infection or have a fever, if you have had diarrhea in the last three days, if you have taken antibiotics in the past week or if you have been vaccinated in the last 4 weeks. Application of Orthokin therapy is always recommended for patients with a stable health condition.
Orthokin serum has not been determined to result in any adverse interactions with other drugs or treatment methods.
Due to its endogenous source, meaning it originates from the patient’s own serum, and its biological mechanism of action, the Orthokin therapy is particularly well tolerated and there are no known side effects. Side effects can only be caused by the injection itself.
The patient comes in the morning to a licensed Orthokin health facility to have their blood drawn. Based on the doctor’s recommendation, they will be given an appointment for the application of the first Orthokin dose.
Several scientific studies have been published worldwide that prove long-term positive results of improvement after administration of the Orthokin therapy:
Study – Osteoarthritis of the knee joint
Study – Reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee joint
Study – Achilles tendon
Study – Muscles
You can find these studies on the web page.
The number of injections depends on the degree of damage in osteoarthritis, the severity of back pain and damage to the tendon, ligament and muscle tissues. Recommendations regarding this are derived from the practical experience of the founder of the Orthokin therapy prof. dr.sc. Peter Wehling from Dusseldorf, Germany.
From a medical standpoint, Orthokin therapy can be repeated indefinitely.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia has approved the therapy with Autologous conditioned serum – Orthokin as new medical technology. Orthokin therapy in a licensed Orthokin medical facility is performed only by specially trained Orthokin licensed doctors. Licensed medical institutions obtain medical products as well as other necessary equipment directly from a licensed distributor in the Republic of Serbia.
